Italian businessman Carlo Rolle opened San Carlo Osteria Piemonte on Thompson Street in SoHo around 2016 as an homage to his hometown of Turin, building the menu entirely around the cuisine of Italy's Piedmont region rather than the more familiar southern-Italian fare found elsewhere downtown. The wine list leans heavily on Piedmont's best-known reds, Barolo and Barbaresco, served under the restaurant's Taurus emblem, a nod to the lucky bull statue in Turin's Piazza San Carlo. It marked ten years in the neighborhood in 2026, with executive chef Davide Iacoboni now running the kitchen and Sunday jazz brunch among its more distinctive additions.
