Kenn's Broome Street Bar has anchored the corner of West Broadway and Broome Street in SoHo since the early 1970s, when Kenneth Reisdorff, a Seattle-born Marine Corps veteran and cabinet maker, opened it just as the neighborhood's artist community was taking shape. Its long wood bar and floor-to-ceiling windows became a fixture for the writers, painters, and musicians who filled SoHo's lofts in the years before it turned into a shopping district. Decades later, it's one of the few bars left that still carries a direct link to that original bohemian SoHo. It remains a quiet, unpretentious counterpoint to the boutiques and crowds that now define the neighborhood.
