Don Angie opened on Greenwich Avenue in the West Village in 2017, the debut restaurant from husband-and-wife chefs Angie Rito and Scott Tacinelli, in partnership with the Quality Branded restaurant group. Its menu reworks Italian-American staples with unexpected technique, most famously a pinwheel-cut lasagna, styled to fan open like flower petals when sliced. The restaurant earned a Michelin star in 2021 and a two-star review from The New York Times, on top of James Beard nominations for both chefs. Rito and Tacinelli went on to open San Sabino nearby and co-write a cookbook, Italian American, drawing on the same family recipes that built this one.
