Di Fara Pizza

$89.99

Domenico DeMarco, who emigrated from Caserta, Italy in 1959, opened Di Fara Pizza in Brooklyn's Midwood neighborhood in 1965, building a cult following almost entirely on the strength of his own hands. He personally made every pie until his death in 2022, snipping fresh basil over each one with kitchen scissors and finishing them with imported San Marzano tomatoes and buffalo mozzarella. In 2009 it became the first NYC pizzeria to charge $5 a slice, and it's been named the city's best pizza by Zagat and practically every other outlet since; a reputation built on a 15-seat shop that never needed to expand to prove it.
