Lexington Candy Shop

$69.99

Since 1925, Lexington Candy Shop has been the luncheonette at Lexington and 83rd. A long counter, swivel stools, and a soda fountain that still mixes Coca-Cola by hand from syrup and seltzer. The menu hasn't chased anything: burgers and club sandwiches, pancakes and French toast, egg creams and malts, sundaes made with Bassetts ice cream. Greek immigrant Soterios Philis opened it, and his grandson John runs it today. A hundred years in, it's one of the last of its kind in the city.
