Lafayette occupies a landmark NoHo building at the corner of Lafayette and Great Jones Streets, opened by chef Andrew Carmellini and NoHo Hospitality Group as a French grand café and bakery. Designed by Roman and Williams, the space pairs mahogany floors and arched windows with a rotisserie visible from the entrance and a bakery that runs late into the night. The market-driven menu draws on French regional cooking from Provence to Normandy, filtered through Carmellini's own brasserie sensibility. It's built to function as an all-day café as much as a destination dinner spot.
