Jean-Georges Vongerichten opened JoJo on East 64th Street on the Upper East Side in 1991, and it became the restaurant that first established his reputation in New York before he built his broader restaurant empire. The Michelin-starred dining room has stayed a showcase for the same French technique layered with Asian ingredients that came to define his cooking, now more than three decades into its run. It remains one of the more intimate, townhouse-scaled entries in the Jean-Georges portfolio, a contrast to the larger, flashier rooms he's opened since.
